Architectural Malpractice

LLFW has extensive experience defending architects against claims for malpractice (or professional negligence) and breach of contract, an area related to LLFW’s construction practice.  Those claims, generally brought by building owners, are typically arbitrated before the American Arbitration Association in accordance with an arbitration clause in the architectural firm’s AIA contract with the owner.  As a recent example of its work in this area, LLFW successfully represented a prestigious, New York-based architectural firm against an apartment owner’s claims of malpractice and breach of contract -- including claims for deficient design and inadequate construction oversight -- in connection with the gut renovation of a 10,000 square foot apartment in a highly publicized condominium development in Manhattan.
